So, I'm in my new place finally. I moved in two nights ago after class. It's not much, but it's mine all mine. Two small rooms, with a tiny kitchen in between. The wallpaper is peeling in places and it's not exactly home yet, but with a little love, it'll have Brenda written all over it. It's not furnished at all yet, which means, yes.....I have been sleeping on the floor for two nights. I have bedding, but it's still been anything but comfortable. After seriously pleading my case to my boss though, I'll at least have a fridge tonight and a bed. They're gonna buy other stuff little by little. I imagine this weekend I'll have to go out and buy a bunch of little kitchen stuff and odds and ends. It'll be costly, but I shouldn't ever have to do it again. What I'm really looking forward to next to getting my bed, is a phone though. I keep wanting to call people and can't.

Something a little humorous. The last two mornings, after I've taken a shower and trying to get dressed, people have kept coming banging on the door. Talk about bad timing. I hardly have time to clutch my towel too, cuz they keep pounding away. Most people see me dripping and mumble something before slinking away. Today, however, I actually happened to be dressed and a whole family came knocking. They saw me and did the customary slack jaw expression of surprise. After a slight recovery the two alpha males of the group attempted to speak with me. Their English was broken, at best, and I still can't say much more than the time. I remembered the word for American and not much more. Funny thing is....when you really can't communicate with someone, you grasp at any language you know. So, I was left standing there not knowing what they wanted, as they couldn't tell me. One of the older men stepped up and started talking in what I soon realized was a mix of Spanish w/a little English and Korean interspersed. Wow.....like I said you grasp at whatever you know. I remember hearing "no hay" (there aren't any) and a few other things. They wanted to know if I was the only person living there. You see, even my small 2 room place probably would be the norm for a family of 4 or so here. I'm still not really sure, but i think they may have been looking for a place to rent and didn't know I was already living there. I shook my head in wonder as they left. How in the world did he know any Spanish?
